Golden State Warriors vs New Orleans Pelicans: Current situation
The 2023-24 season was a disappointing one for Golden State fans as they failed to make it into the Playoffs through the play-in tournament. Several moves were made during the offseason, the biggest one of was Klay Thompson leaving the team after 13 years of service. He was replaced with a couple of capable sharpshooters, so the Warriors depth has benefited from this move. At 36-years old Stephen Curry is no longer in his prime, but with the right players around him the Warriors can still compete for the championship. Health will once again determine how far this team goes in the postseason.
Unlike the Warriors, New Orleans actually made it into the playoffs through the play-in tournament, only to lose in the first round to the OKC Thunder. Everyone is expecting Zion Williamson to make the next step in his development, because of this the Pelicans decided to make a move for another point guard in the offseason, acquiring Dejounte Murray from the Atlanta Hawks. That experiment is off to a rocky start though as Murray suffered a left hand fracture, he is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.
Golden State Warriors Stats & Form
The Warriors were well on their way to start off the season 3-0, but then Stephen Curry got injured and they lost their last home game against the LA Clippers 112-104. That means the Warriors are 2-1 SU on the season and still looking for their first home win of the new season. The good news is the injury to Curry isn’t severe and his ankle will be re-evaluated in the coming days which means he should be back in the line-up most likely this weekend.
New Orleans Pelicans Stats & Form
New Orleans has shown a couple of faces so far in the first week of the new season. First they played a really solid game in their season opener against the Bulls, winning by 12 at home. Then they went on the road and split their next 2 games against the lowly Portland Trail Blazers, losing the 2nd game by a whopping 22 points. This team is struggling to keep up with opponents in the rebounding department, but that was to be expected after they failed to keep center Jonas Valanciunas on the roster this offseason.
Golden State Warriors vs New Orleans Pelicans: Head to Head
Only 3 games were played between the Golden State Warriors and New Orleans Pelicans last season and interestingly enough, the road team has won all 3 meetings. First the Warriors opened the series with a 130-102 win at New Orleans, then the Pelicans responded with back-to-back wins at Chase Center. Historically, the Warriors have had more luck in these battles, winning 46 of 74 regular season meetings.

Betting tip and prediction: Golden State Warriors vs New Orleans Pelicans (29.10.2024)
Both teams have been hit hard by the injury bug, but we believe the injuries suffered by the Warriors players will have a much bigger impact on their roster. Stephen Curry is the leader of this team, without him out there the three-point shooting will suffer. Golden State is the underdog for a reason here, last year they won just 32% of their games in this position which is not a lot. With CJ McCollum and Brandon Ingram already in mid-season form as far as scoring goes, the Pelicans are in a solid position to grab an all important road victory here. They’ve beaten the Warriors in both meetings at Chase Center last season, by a combined 41 points. Zion Williamson should also have his way with the Warriors on the interior, Sunday’s loss to Portland should serve the Pels as a wake-up call in their quest to make it into the postseason in the loaded West. We are sticking with the favorites here, let’s back New Orleans to cover the spread.
